Camp NaNoWriMo Day 8

Today was a day trip to the sea-side for a client meeting. This gave me nearly four hours on the train, a fabulous opportunity to write.

It was a mixed day. I was looking forward to sea, sunshine and sand. I got thunderstorms and angry homeless people.  I wrote, but only managed 1200 words, which brings me to 10300 / 50000.

The choice to write the novel by hand is starting to catch up with me. I've had doses of writer's cramp that I've not experienced since doing my degree finals nearly a quarter of a century a go. I've been tempted to go back to using a keyboard again, but I sense that this is another example of my perpetual search for novelty and distraction when things get hard. I am behind on the word count, and the returning to the keyboard would be a quick fix, but I want to stick with the decision I've made about the tools I'm going to use on this project.

Onward.
