Just over a year ago, I had a leaky pipe in my study which caused a minor flood. Water is incredibly destructive and it doesn’t take a long time for it to do its work.
In my case, the water was only running for an hour, but it was enough to trash the floor and require a complete refurbishment of the space. It took two months to dry the place out, using specialist equipment, and another four to get it back to useable condition. The study is my space, a personal haven, and I really struggled to lose it. I can’t imagine what it must be like for the people whose homes and workplaces are under a metre of water across the United Kingdom.
